What is a Capital Expenditure (CapEx)?

A capital expenditure is a purchase your location makes that has lasting value — something that will serve the business for more than one year. Think of it as an investment in your store, not a regular operating cost.

CapEx — Request This
  • New or replacement equipment (fryers, refrigeration, POS)
  • Furniture or fixtures
  • Technology upgrades
  • Build-out or renovation work
  • Any purchase with lasting value — used for 1+ year
OpEx — Use Your Budget
  • Routine supplies and consumables
  • Routine repairs and maintenance
  • Software subscriptions (monthly)
  • Recurring service contracts
  • Day-to-day operational spend
Approval is based on our overall 2027 budget and revenue. There is no fixed dollar threshold — all requests go through this process. What matters is that your need is clearly documented and justified. Leadership will evaluate requests against the full picture of 2027 planned spend and performance. When in doubt, submit it — we'd rather review it than miss it.

CapEx requests are reviewed and approved by leadership before any purchase is made. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval, but it gets your need in front of the right people at the right time in our planning cycle.

Why does this matter? We plan capital investments once a year. If your location has a genuine need — equipment that's failing, a gap that's hurting the guest experience, or an upgrade that would meaningfully improve your team's ability to operate — this is your moment to make the case.
